Disney Infinity 3.0's infinite money glitch

We come across a handy bug that lets us cheat the system for unlimited credits

There's a weird kind of pleasure to be found in breaking games. Finding that little hidey hole you can duck inside to dodge a particularly nasty boss, or a cheaty route that lets you skip half of the level is rewarding in an unusual kind of way, as you kind of use the game's logic against it. The recently released Disney Infinity 3.0 is a game that's a heck of a lot better than the previous Disney Infinity games, but it's also a game that's a little bit rough around the edges in places - as we found out last night, when we happened across this great cheat. Disney Infinity 3.0: Infinite Possibilities? Infinite money, more like.

And so it happened that, when playing our way through the game's bundled Twilight of the Republic Play Set, something unusual occurred. Scattered around Coruscant, the second planet you'll visit during your adventure, are a number of terminals that give you sparks of different colours - orange for XP, purple for special move boosts, and light blue for money. All you have to do is walk up to one and hold square to be showered with money (you know - just like cash points in real life). Usually, after a few brief moments, the cash point door closes, and the blue sparks dry up. But not today.

For reasons we have yet to figure out And now, we've figured out exactly how. There's a trick you can do that lets any of these terminals keep dishing out sparks, whether it's money, XP, health, or special move chargers. All you have to do is get both characters to focus on the terminal at the same time. This is repeatable, and it works on any terminal on any of the game's planets. It can take some shuffling around to get it set up, and a bit of looking away from the terminal (rotating the camera so it goes off screen) first, but it's doable, and it always works.

Once in place, all you have to do is get one character to drain the terminal. Their terminal will stop being highlighted, but yours won't - and then all you have to do is hold square to bathe in the glory of your new money. Here's a video showing you how to do it:

A fun bug, rather than a serious one, this is the sort of glitch it's always interesting trying to figure out. Now, there's no need to create a complex glitch chamber in the Toy Box - all you need to do is walk up to one of the terminals, and leave something perched on the square button (or simply tape it down) to make us Disney Infinity millionaires! Why not try it out for yourself, and give your characters a much needed cash boost!
